Terms of Use and What This Site Does Not Do
These terms cover silverbeckworks.com and everything published on it. Reading a page, following a link, or dialing the number in the header means you accept them. If a term here does not sit right with you, the fix is to stop using the site.
Silverbeck is a publisher. It writes about grease interceptors, grease traps and the drainage that serves commercial kitchens. It pumps nothing, installs nothing, inspects nothing, and sells no equipment.
These pages inform a decision, they do not make one
Everything here is general guidance written for restaurant and commercial kitchen operators. None of it is a compliance determination for your establishment, and none of it is engineering or legal advice. A page cannot see your grease line, your fixture count, your lease, or the enforcement history on your account.
Sizing, cleaning frequency, record keeping and permits are decided by your local pretreatment program and by the authority having jurisdiction over your building. Those rules vary by city and by sewer district, and they change. What a state plumbing code permits can turn out to be narrower once the sewer authority applies its own ordinance on top of it.
Where a page works through a sizing example, the arithmetic illustrates a published method so you can follow the logic and ask a supplier or an inspector better questions. It is not a design, not a stamped calculation, and not a number to write on a permit application. A licensed engineer or plumbing designer produces that, and the reviewing authority accepts or rejects it. How pages are researched and checked is set out in the editorial policy.
Nobody becomes your engineer, plumber or lawyer here
No professional relationship forms by reading these pages, by emailing the desk, or by calling the number. There is no client relationship, no engagement, and no duty of care running from a published article to your kitchen.
Timing matters more than most operators expect. A page written this quarter can describe an ordinance that gets amended the next. Anything with money or a deadline attached (a due date, a required log, a tank size, an application fee) should be confirmed with the office that will enforce it before you act on it.
The phone line reaches a company Silverbeck does not run
The number on the site routes to an independent service company covering the caller's area, usually a firm that pumps interceptors or plumbs kitchens. That company is not a Silverbeck department, subsidiary or franchise, and its employees are not our employees.
Where such a call leads to booked work, a fee may run from that company to Silverbeck, charged against its margin and not added to what the kitchen was quoted. The whole arrangement is described in how we make money.
Silverbeck is not a party to any agreement you reach with that company. It makes no promise about the price quoted, the quality of the work, the insurance carried, or whether registration and licensing are current and correct for your jurisdiction. It is not responsible for the outcome of the job, for property damage, for a missed appointment, or for a dispute over an invoice.
Check the company yourself. Ask your city or sewer authority whether the hauler appears on its registered list, since FOG hauler registration is usually handled by the municipality or the sewer authority rather than at the state level. Ask for the manifest and for proof of insurance, then keep both.
Quote a paragraph, link back, skip the wholesale copy
The text, page structure and illustrations on this site belong to Silverbeck. Quoting a passage in an article, a training packet or a vendor comparison is welcome when you attribute it and link to the page it came from.
Republishing a page in full, rewriting it lightly and passing it off as your own, loading it into a product as original content, or reusing the illustrations without permission is not allowed.
Plumbing codes, ordinances, standards and manufacturer data quoted on the site belong to the bodies that publish them. Their copyright and their license terms govern that material, not these terms. Where a page quotes a code section, go to the publisher for the authoritative current text before you rely on the wording.
The pictures are drawings, not photographs of jobs
Illustrations here are generated with AI tools and labeled as such. They are not photographs of real installations, real customers, or work performed by anyone connected with the site. Nothing on this site is presented as a record of a completed job.
They do the work a diagram does, showing an arrangement or a component in general terms. Do not use one to identify a part number, judge a clearance, or settle an argument about what sits under your kitchen floor.
Links that leave this site are sources, not endorsements
Pages cite sewer authorities, code bodies, standards organizations, manufacturers and trade publications. Those sites belong to other people. Silverbeck does not control what they post, whether a document stays at the same address, or what their own terms and privacy practices require.
Following an outside link puts you under that site's rules. A citation records that a document was used as a source. It is not a recommendation of the organization behind it or of anything else that organization sells.
The limit of what Silverbeck owes you
The site and its contents are provided as they are, without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose, and without a promise that the site will be available without interruption.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Silverbeck and the people who work on it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. That includes lost revenue, spoiled product, fines assessed by a pretreatment program, a failed inspection, and the cost or consequences of work performed by a company reached through the phone line. Where liability cannot be excluded at all, it is capped at one hundred dollars.
Some states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or the limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
If your use of the site causes a third party to bring a claim (republishing content, misusing a quotation, or acting on a page in a way that harms someone else), you agree to cover the reasonable costs Silverbeck spends defending it.
Governing law, and how these terms change
These terms are read under federal law together with the law of the publisher's state of organization, and that state's conflict of law rules do not apply. The page names no exclusive courthouse: a free reference site has no fair claim to pull a reader into a distant forum. Consumer protections your own state provides, including access to the small claims court nearest you, remain in place.
Terms get revised when the site changes or when the law does. The version posted here is the one in force, carrying the effective date shown below, and using the site after a revision means the revised version applies to you. Questions about any of it reach the desk through the contact page.
